First – PRIORITIZE
After you have made a list of everything you want to do, realize you can move a lot of it to the next day, week or month, or even next year. Try to focus on what is essential to do right now. I get sidetracked by so many things. Maybe you have this problem as well. Circle the 3 top things you want to accomplish for the day and feel great you did that. If you don’t get all three done, don’t be too hard on yourself. Just move it to the next day and know that at least you have a written-down plan. If you are like me, you often overestimate what we are capable of doing in one day. Don’t get started on too many things at once and create too much chaos in your environment. Try to finish what you start. Don’t get caught in the I am worth more if I do more trap.
Second – TALK IT OUT
Talk to someone about your overwhelmed feelings. Not only can this relieve some stress, but it can also give you some possible good advice that will save you some time and unnecessary worry.
Third – BE KIND TO YOURSELF
Block out some time just for you — some ME TIME.
Make sure you are getting enough sleep, hydration, exercise, and healthy food. You need to take care of yourself before you can work on that to-do list.
CONCLUSION
Don’t try to be superwoman. Take things a day at a time and feel good that at least you are going in the right direction. You are not what you accomplish. You are amazing just the way you are. Breathe deep and repeat that to yourself when those overwhelmed feelings come into your mind.
Constantly ask yourself:
Is what I am doing right now helping me get the most important things done today?
