FIVE MORE WAYS TO SIMPLIFY YOUR LIFE
(see my previous post for the first 5)
SIX: Eliminate some seasonal decorations.
It takes up lots of storage space
and you really don’t need to decorate for every holiday and occasion!
Who are you trying to impress?
Your job is to keep holidays stress-free and more joyful.
I now put up a tiny ceramic tree at Christmas
and my Christmases are much more enjoyable and meaningful.
I now spend time on keeping my house tidy and concentrating on the reason for the holiday.
SEVEN: Clear Your Surfaces.
This habit will reduce the stress of looking at all the clutter that accumulates
and reduce time spent looking for things.
Use hooks, bins, and baskets to contain your clutter.
Hanging clothes on hooks that you will wear again will eliminate having piles.
EIGHT: Unclutter your closet.
Buy no-fuss comfortable, mix and match type clothing.
Have in your closet only what you love and wear often;
that usually means 10 to 20 percent of what you currently own.
Forget about shoes that look good but hurt.
Get rid of shoes you seldom wear.
I donated all my shoes with heels when I was sixty.
News flash: You don’t have to launder an item after only one wearing,
unless you are playing in the dirt or not wearing an apron when you cook!
NINE: Carry Less
Carry a tiny purse with just the essentials in it.
Keep non-essentials in your car in the glove box.
Pack light when traveling.
One small carry-on is all you need on any trip for any length of time!
TEN:
Turn off the TV more.
Pick out a few good shows to watch and stick to that.
Listen to the radio more often –
you can do chores while you listen.
I try to limit my TV time to 1 hour in the evening.
I watch half of a good movie most nights.
Keep working on simplifying your life,
you will find out you will be enjoying it more.
