MY TOP THREE THINGS TO TOSS/USE UP – BLOG
With the New Year coming it sometimes motivates us to do some decluttering and start the coming year off a little better. Here are a few ideas.
My Top three decluttering recommendations:
HEAVY VACUUM CLEANER– I recommend getting a modern cordless stick vac that doesn’t need a bag – I did, and I love the lightweight feel and ease of use! A big plus is that it hangs on the wall and doesn’t take up space in my hall closet.
GIFT CARDS – use them up now- you never know when you won’t be able to! We failed to use one of ours before the restaurant went out of business! Don’t let this happen to you.
OLD ATHLETIC SHOES – Experts say you need to replace your walking shoes every six months if you are a frequent walker. Don’t wait too long, or the inside of your shoes may be compromised.
I am sure you can think of other things. I know I can. But these are my top three!
OTHER THINGS TO CONSIDER:
How about starting the New Year with a cleaned-out frig?
Or are you taking all your expired medications/supplements to your local drugstore for disposal?
What about all those old cosmetics that are too old to wear safely or just didn’t work for you?
What about that pile of unread magazines – why not commit to reading a few a day then tossing?
How about your excess linens in your linen closet? Just how many towels and sheets does a person need?
Or, maybe it is time for some nice new undergarments.
MAKE A LIST
You may also want to make a list of things you need to work on using up next year.
My list last year included hand lotions, cleaning supplies, boxes of tea. This year it was paper, photos, and books.
Our homes are living spaces, not storage spaces. So think of what you have too many of and start paring down!
You will thank yourself next year when you have more room in your drawers, cupboards, and closets!
And remember my motto: Less Stuff, More Joy! and HAPPY NEW YEAR!
