Don’t let yourself fall into this trap:
The trap of over-busyness.
The trap that leaves you with little time to breathe.
God did not intend for you to live that way.
You may be watching the world around you;
hurrying and scurrying in a constant state of frenzied activity,
and think you should be doing the same.
But you don’t have to follow that example.
Follow God’s example instead!
He wants you to rest and not feel guilty.
He cares more about who you are than how much you do.
He wants you to take time to replenish your body and soul.
Do you find yourself with every calendar square filled?
Do you brag to others about how busy you are?
Are you so busy giving to others
that you have no time left for yourself?
Are you too busy to keep a tidy and organized home?
Are you proud of how much you can cram into each day?
Are you so busy people-pleasing that you can never say “NO”?
Do you fall into bed at the end of the day, too exhausted to move?
Do you often get sick because you have not taken enough time to rest?
Stop it!
Or you might miss hearing
the small still voice of God
who wants to speak to you
throughout your day.
You might miss out on finding the more profound meaning
and purpose that God has for your life.
Start by asking God to help you set some boundaries.
Ask him to help you have the self-discipline to carve out
time for soul care and rest time.
Jesus said:
“Are you tired?
Worn Out?
Burned out on religion?
Get away with me,
and you’ll recover your life.
I’ll show you how to take a real rest.
Walk with me and work with me-
Watch how I do it.
Learn the unforced rhythms of grace.
I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you.
Keep company with me and
You’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”
