My WORD FOR THIS YEAR IS SAVOR
Many people pick out a word for the year and then learn about that word and incorporate it into their lives for that year. It is a spiritual practice meant to change or improve them somehow.
This morning my writer’s group discussed their “word” for 2022.
I have decided that my word is:
savor
I am now savoring this word savor.
My definition of this word is taking time to unwrap the gift of now.
It also means deriving pleasure or enjoyment from.
What does this have to do with the clutter, you say?
Everything, I say.
How can you relax and “unwrap the gift of now” if you are surrounded by undone projects, messy countertops, and piles of things that you no longer use?
If something you own or do no longer gives you joy, then it is time to remove it. Don’t start thinking about your toilet brush that is not giving you joy. You still need a clean toilet which hopefully gives you joy! Maybe I should add “is no longer useful to you” when discussing discarding an item.
When we clear out what is no longer meaningful or useful in our homes, we can then have time to savor the things we do have. We leave space for savoring the beauty around us.
Savoring life means enjoying it to the fullest, and you can’t do that if you are constantly trying to unbury yourself from piles of clutter.
God wants you to be living your best life!
He is patiently waiting for you to stop making excuses and start parking your mind on the truth.
And the truth is that you CAN have a home you enjoy, you CAN change your mindset and your habits, and you CAN get organized.
If not now, when?
Let this year, the year 2022, be the year that you look back on and say :
“Yes, 2022, that was the year I got my act together;
that was the year my home became a sanctuary of joy instead of a stressful, chaotic nightmare. “
That was the year I made up my mind and did it!
Start today – your future self will thank you for it. No matter how small the start, it is still a start!
What is your word for 2022? I would love to hear about it!
